Forced to catch back up to Coppins and then race leader Stefan Everts after his bike wouldn’t start following the first round of pit stops, Knight rode hard during the second hour and led the race after the second refueling stop. Starting well and claiming the holeshot the KTM rider spent much of the first hour racing against New Zealand’s Josh Coppins. Cyril said "why they race the same thing over & over every year?" I'm sure if these guys were going to try something different, their first choice would not be baja. The Euro's are not used to the whoops & beat to crap terrain.
We had to change his section because he was not a happy camper. He had fun pre-running with Chris but on race day, he hit a huge berm and went sailing and was not too happy. not so much baja but he truly was not happy having to go out for 100+ miles.

Funny thing is that it wasn't really a KTM Factory backed deal. Yes Blais/Quinn/Grider won Felipe OA in '05 on a KTM. I'd say with certainty that Pearson, Quinn, Kamo, Espo., and even Cryil are all faster than Knight would be in that type racing. "probably will win a SCORE race" - Huh? KTM had a power house Team recently. WORCS, maybe he could win it, but I'm not sure if his MX speed is up there with those guys. In his position it's likely that doing races just for fun aint gonna afford him a living. As I recall he got passed by a 15 year old Mexican kid. Mike Lafferty is an amazing woods/gnarly terrain rider - did that mean he'd be good in Baja? No. And Baja, I'd bet there's no way in Hell he would ever consider that crazyness. He likely gets paid too well to risk his life pinned across the desert.
